Himalayan orthodox tea from the eastern hills — bulk to India, premium leaf to Europe and Japan.
Nepali tea is grown mainly in Ilam and the eastern hills, bordering the Darjeeling belt. It splits into high-volume CTC tea and higher-value orthodox (whole-leaf) tea.
Most volume goes to India, often re-blended and re-exported. The real value opportunity is premium orthodox tea sold direct to specialty buyers in Germany, the EU, Japan and the US — where origin and quality command far higher prices.
